My Church

My Church

It is vibrant.
It is alive.
It is in tune with God's heart.
It is attractive.
It has momentum.
It is influential.
It is just plain AWESOME!!!

Many people complain about the loud music, the fancy lights and prosperity teaching...

I love that my church is modern. I love that my church is thriving. Church was never meant to be boring and plain. God wants us to enjoy life, and what better way to do it in church with fellow followers!

My church is global. My church is national. My church is local.
It meets the needs of people EVERYWHERE, regardless of their culture, background, age or gender.

But the most important thing about my church is...

It carries the Message of Jesus Christ.
There is an atmosphere of faith, hope and love.. Just as God desires for His church.

You want to know where I go to church?
Ask me.
You don't want to not know about my church.

Intercession

Intercession.
  • to pass between
  • to meet with in behalf of one
  • to come between
I am always troubled by the injustice that is occuring all around the world, but it is always more disheartening when the injustice is close to home - within the family, close friends or self.

Jesus set the example of bearing another's burden, and then doing whatever He can to help (Isaiah 53:12). The Holy Spirit also intercedes on our behalf. Therefore, if Jesus and the Holy Spirit takes it upon themselves to pray for us - then how much more should we pray for others.  And not just lighthearted "God bless him or her" but a deep prayer that is relevant to that person and what they are going through at the time. Like, "God, show him that nothing he does will ever make You love him less, or, reveal to him how he can forgive her", and so forth.

Make 1 Timothy 2:1-2 your personal mission. I know I am going to.
1 First of all, I encourage you to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people, 2 for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way.

Rather than just hoping that someone's situation will be better, be a part of their transformation by pleading and praying on their behalf! God will honour you and is pleased by His people taking a stand for the hurt.

God encounter

I was lying in bed one night and it was during a time where I felt distant from God. I simply asked God if He would talk to me even though I felt like He was unhappy with me.

His answer blew me away. He said "I am in admiration of you."

Admiration.

At first I was like, what does admiration even mean!? So I looked it up in the dictionary - as you do!

1 - a feeling of wonder, pleasure or approval
2 - the act of looking on or contemplating with pleasure
3 - wonder, astonishment

My God looks at me with pleasure, he approves of me, he's in wonder and astonishment of me..... How amazing is that?

I was even more blown away when I read what the antonym of admiration is....

The opposite of admiration is condemnation.

WOW.

Here I was thinking that God condemns me for my mistakes - but in one sentence he revealed to me how he truly saw me.

How great is our God!? He is so loving.  He delights in me.

I pray that you will realise that God is in admiration of you too - he never condemns. Seriously, all glory to God! He is so good.

The "I just haven't met you yet" challenge

So! This is a completely off topic post - it's for the single ladies and men!

Most singles wish they could just find the "one" and sometimes do pretty silly things to seek for that special one! So... here's an idea, instead of giving your heart away countless of times, save your heart and take on the "I just haven't met you yet" challenge! (Kind of inspired by "I just haven't met you yet - Michael Buble").

Here's how it works...
1) Find yourself a cool notebook or just open up a Word doc on the computer.
2) Use that as your means of communicating to your special one.
For example, whenever you feel alone and really long for companionship - write a message, or whenever you've read something that's really inspired you - write a message!

Basically, through doing this challenge - you're saving yourself for that lucky one.  And instead of wasting your time, emotions and energy in the wrong relationships - you get to positively use your efforts and emotions!

The best part about this challenge is that one day when you marry that special person, you'll be able to give them the greatest gift of all! You've kept your heart pure and saved all the intimate parts about your life just for that one person.  You won't arrive at the altar with baggage from past relationships either!!

Trust me, this is the best thing! It's ultimately your choice, but I say... JUST DO IT!

See things from his perspective

I've been struggling with self-condemnation for a while now.  I feel incredibly called to live my life for God and to do everything for him, but as soon as I do something ungodly, I feel so horrible and find it hard to feel passionate about God's purpose for my life.  But tonight I realised something, if I am condemning myself, I am belittling what Jesus did for me - He died for my sins, even the ones that I have not yet committed.

It seriously messes with my head - that God had the foresight to know that I will disappoint him, yet through an act of obedience, Jesus dying on the cross, none of my disappointments matter. I actually can't disappoint God, because I am a saint in his sight! Seriously, I think if we can just focus on God's great love for us, then we won't be able to condemn ourselves any longer.  Real love is that God loved us first.  He chose us before we were even born!

In Jeremiah 29:11, God reveals that he constantly thinks of us, and not thoughts of evil, but thoughts of peace! Therefore, if I can be bold and say, that when we believe that God is condemning us for what we've done, then it clearly isn't from him. Because he doesn't have thoughts of evil towards us! So really, it's completely and utterly pointless to condemn yourself for your mistakes, when it doesn't even cross God's mind, the Almighty God who reigns forever and ever.

Let yourself go, let go of trying to be good enough for God.  You are a saint! You are God's child, an heir.  Keep God in your sight; let him be your hope.  I'll finish up with this, Collossians 3:1-4:

1-2 So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it.  Pursue the things over which Christ presides.  Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ - that's where the action is.  See things from his perspective.

3-4 Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life - even though invisible to spectators - is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you'll show up, too - the real you, the glorious you.

You have the choice to choose the Truth

At a moment of discouragement, I remembered...

Regardless of what the world says or thinks, my God has ALREADY won the victory. In the end, he will STILL reign. forever. and ever. You can choose to ignore it, or you can choose to be embraced by his incredible love for you.

My first post!!!

I have been putting off making a blog for months now, and this is it. I'm doing it! I want to inspire those who read my words, I want to make you think about things and challenge you, I also want to just get out what's in my heart!

A dear friend has really inspired me to jump in the deep end.  Not in a silly way, but in a courageous way. And to be honest, I am getting tired of just dipping my toes in the water - I want to swim in the deep end and use all that's within me to keep afloat!

If this life is the only one we get here on earth.... I want to make mine count. For His glory alone.

When I read over the words, "Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us", my mind goes on overload! Yet, while we were still sinners, God embraced us and poured out His love and mercy.... That is why I am making this blog. Because every single person deserves to know and EXPERIENCE the kind of love and mercy only God can give.

May you be blessed, inspired and incredibly joyful - knowing that God lavishly hands out the greatest gift of all, to and for all to have, and that greatest gift.... is grace.
